KANSAS CITY, Missouri – February 14, 2026 – The second match of the 2026 LOVB Classic was a clash of last year’s top two seeds from the event, with former one-seed LOVB Atlanta defeating former two-seed LOVB Nebraska in straight sets (25-22, 25-17, 25-20) at Municipal Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Atlanta (3-5) dominated in nearly every statistical category. Second-year middle blocker Onye Ofoegbu shined on the night, finishing with 18 points, 13 kills, four blocks, two digs, two assists and an ace, all while setting the new league record for highest single-match hitting efficiency with a .929 (min. 10 attempts). Her points, kills and blocks totals led all athletes on the floor.
“I’m very grateful to even be in a position to play [well] against some of these players like Jordan Larson” said Onye. “Being able to compete against her does make me feel confident. It makes me feel like I do have a future. It’s good to feel like so early in my career that I still have the love for the game and I want to keep going.”
Nebraska (3-6) couldn’t find a rhythm offensively throughout the match, getting outkilled 45-33 and losing the point battle 61-41. Outside hitter Anne Buijs led the team in both categories, finishing the night with 10 points and eight kills.
“We’re frustrated, ya know?” said Nebraska head coach Suzie Fritz. “Unlsumping yourself is not easily done. I love the way these guys fight for it, I love the way we’re talking about it, I love our everyday approach to competitiveness and excellence. Being able to flip that switch and have that turn into action and execution is where we’re at.”
LOVB Atlanta wraps up its three and a half week stint away from home on Thursday, February 19, as they head to the Lone Star State to take on LOVB Houston. First serve is set for 8:00 p.m. Eastern and will be broadcast on ESPN+.
