Get to Know Glenna Bianchin: Director of College Recruiting
Growing up in Ashland, KY, Glenna went on to attend Marshall University where she was a two-sport All Conference athlete in volleyball and track and field. She began her coaching career as an assistant at Marshall, helping coach them to two conference championships and their first NCAA tournament appearance.
Prior to joining LOVB, Glenna was the recruiting coordinator for CUVC in Charlotte, NC growing the club from 8 to 53 teams along with over 175 athletes (girls and boys) committed to play at the next level over her 7 years with them. She is truly passionate about personal growth of a person in life and volleyball. Her main goal for every athlete is to find their right fit (on the court or off), in order for them to be successful in their future. With her extensive college network connections and background of experience, Glenna brings all of her passion and enthusiasm to our club athletes at LOVB!
What’s your favorite part about your role at LOVB?
I love giving every athlete that dreams of playing in college the necessary tools and personal support to make that dream a reality.
What’s your best advice for any young athlete that wants to play collegiately?
Control the controllables! There is so much chatter in the recruiting process through social media and peers that athletes can be distracted from their journey. You are in charge of your process through your commitment to success in the classroom, approach to training/recovery, and sending communications to coaches. These three aspects are what help you to find your fit for your college career. Every athlete’s path is different. The more time you spend on other people’s journey, the less you are giving to your own.
What’s one of your favorite memories as a coach?
Helping coach our team to win the conference tournament and have the first NCAA tournament appearance for Marshall University, and knowing that we set goals in the preseason and were able to see them come to fruition through all of their commitment and hard work.
Looking back at your career, what are you most proud of?
I am most proud of helping so many athletes find their fit through the recruiting process, as well as life lessons. My heart is full knowing athletes will have an opportunity to to be part of a blessed group to play at the next level and grow into the next phase of their lives.
What’s on the top of your bucket list?
To travel through Europe!
