LOVB is bringing Pro Volleyball to Kansas City through In-Season Tournament
The LOVB Classic will be held alongside Triple Crown NIT, the country’s premier youth volleyball tournament
On the heels of introducing its schedule format for 2025, League One Volleyball introduced another element for its inaugural season - the LOVB Classic. To be held in conjunction with Triple Crown NIT in 2025 in Kansas City, the LOVB Classic is the first-ever professional volleyball tournament happening alongside club play.
Announced this week as Triple Crown NIT celebrates 10 years as the premier youth volleyball tournament in the U.S, the LOVB Classic will feature all six LOVB Pro teams in a winner-take-all competition. Centered around LOVB’s goal to create opportunities for youth to play professional volleyball in America, the LOVB Classic will showcase not only elite-level play, but also give junior club players and their families a true taste of what’s possible for their volleyball careers.
“As an organization rooted deeply in the club community, we couldn’t be more excited to introduce the LOVB Classic to run alongside what annually is the very best club play in the country. There is no more prestigious youth volleyball tournament than the Triple Crown,” said Rosie Spaulding, COO of LOVB Pro. “LOVB is the first league designed to give youth a pathway to play pro in the United States, so we believe the LOVB Classic will not only add to the overall experience of the Triple Crown, but also can inspire young players and families to see real futures in playing volleyball in college and beyond.”
To be held at Kansas City’s Municipal Arena over President's Day Weekend in 2025, the LOVB Classic will bring together the LOVB Pro teams from Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Madison, Omaha and Salt Lake to compete over three days for the title. The schedule includes:
- Quarter Finals: Friday will feature teams seeded three through six from the first five weeks of the regular season competing for a chance to play on Saturday.
- Semi Finals: Saturday features a doubleheader with winners of the quarters competing with the #1 and #2 seeds to determine the competitors for the Finals
- Finals Plus: Play will culminate in the championship match between the winners of the semis, while the remaining four teams battle it out for their final positions.
“We are excited to collaborate with LOVB to bring elite-level professional volleyball to Kansas City, and create an even more unforgettable experience for the dedicated players, coaches and families who will be competing at the 2025 Triple Crown NIT,” said Jared Rudiger, director of volleyball at Triple Crown Sports. “The LOVB Classic is the first-ever pro tournament to take place alongside club play and we are thrilled to be playing a part in this historic moment in volleyball.”
In addition to LOVB’s pro league, LOVB has built the largest youth volleyball business in the U.S., with over 1,200 junior club teams at 49 locations across twenty-two states. These clubs include Atlanta’s A5, Houston Skyline, KC Power, and Premier Nebraska, which all rank in the top ten nationally, and who annually see players go on to be recognized as NCAA champions and All-Americans.
We will be sure to continue to update with news about the LOVB Classic as we get closer to launch. In the meantime, please continue to check in as we have a number of exciting announcements in the works.
