UW Health will become the official team medical provider for LOVB Madison Volleyball. LOVB Madison Volleyball will receive UW Health’s award winning care from physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers and massage therapists.

“We are proud to be the official medical provider for this inspiring team of world-class professional volleyball players,” said Dr. David Bernhardt, primary care sports physician at UW Health, professor of orthopedics and rehabilitation at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, and lead team physician for LOVB Madison Volleyball.

LOVB is launching its pro league with six teams to start in Atlanta, Austin, Houston, Madison, Omaha and Salt Lake, and will feature some of the very best players in the world, including the American silver medalists from the recent Olympics.

LOVB Madison Volleyball is anchored by former Badger and 2024 Olympic Silver medalist, Lauren Carlini. Three former University of Wisconsin stars return to Madison as part of LOVB Madison Volleyball, with the team also featuring four Big Ten athletes, including two-time Olympic medalist Annie Drews Schumacher. The full team’s athletes have a combined sixteen All-American honors, fourteen collegiate semi-final appearances and three national titles. Carlini has also been an instrumental member of the LOVB Athlete’s Council, which is helping to ensure that the benefits and opportunities the league provides its athletes both on-and-off the court foster advancement and support of LOVB Pro athletes in their post-playing careers.

“We are thrilled to partner with UW Health to provide unparalleled medical support to LOVB Madison Volleyball,” said Rosie Spaulding, President of LOVB Pro. “At every step, we have been deliberate and methodical in building an athlete-centric league, and with the help of leaders like UW Health, we will be able to provide our incredible athletes at LOVB Madison Volleyball with the care they deserve as they bring forth play unlike anything you’ve seen before.”

As part of the partnership with LOVB, UW Health will align with LOVB on social activations and LOVB Club community events, and will share their insights and expertise on a variety of volleyball care and well-being topics through educational content.
